Candace Flores Carrillo

In 2001 the historic home and property came under the purview of one of Tucson’s most historic restaurant families. After graduating from The University of Arizona, native Tucsonan and renowned event and party planner Candace Flores Carrillo of El Charro Café and Catering Company purchased the Stillwell House with visions of carrying on the tradition of authentic and legendary Tucson celebrations – equipped with her talented and experienced culinary legacy.

Chef Carlotta Flores

Named on Forbes’ 2021 50 over 50 women list renowned Chef Carlotta Flores of El Charro Café, along with daughter Candace have updated and refined Stillwell House. Creating the premier Downtown Tucson party destination that it has become today.

Back in 1922 Monica Flin opened her one-room Mexican restaurant, El Charro Café, in Tucson, Arizona, which among other things, is credited by some as the inventor of the chimichanga. A hundred years later the eatery remains a community fixture and is still run by Flin's family, namely her niece Carlotta Flores, who took the reins of it 50 years ago. Since then the brand has grown into Flores Concepts, which includes four units of El Charro Café, a vegan concept called Charro Vida and Barrio Charro, which she owns with Don Guerra of Barrio Bread and which specializes in tortas and all-day Brunch. Flores, is planning the next stage for the family restaurants: Making sure her children and grandchildren are set up to keep it a success.

She was featured on Taste of The Boarder on Discovery + in 2021 and in 2022 she was featured on Top Chef Houston.
